Project Description:

As a new attraction at West Midlands Safari Park, families are told to “Jump aboard your very own jungle jeep and take a guided expedition through exotic realms!” Decorative concrete was chosen for the paving for the new Jungle Jeeps ride, where different surface finishes were used to delineate between feature areas within the ride. Coloured and textured paving was installed throughout to mimic the natural mud floor of the jungle, and in some areas, textured wood imprinted areas of PICSPAVE were used to give the child sized jeeps a different surface effect to drive on. A blend of colour surface hardeners were used on all concrete surfaces to match the colour themes of the jungle and associated rockwork. A Split Rubblestone imprinted finish was used on the pedestrian queuing areas which also complements other existing themed paved areas elsewhere within the Park.

Project Requirements:

West Midlands Safari Park specified a range of PICSPAVE decorative concrete finishes in complementary as well as bespoke colour and textured combinations, to add to the overall jungle themed experience. Also designed to match consistently with other areas of the upgraded Park environment and themed areas.

PICSPAVE is a minimum 100mm slab of high strength readymixed concrete, coloured, textured and sealed for minimum maintenance, and is used widely across the Theme Park and Zoo sector to handle large foot and vehicle traffic volumes, where longevity, safety and aesthetics are key concerns.

To improve safety, and minimise the risk of trips and falls, PICSPAVE removes the issue of existing loose slabs, uneven block paving movement or loose gravel suffering from vegetation growth, occurring naturally as they inevitably degrade over time.
